The WCPC traces its earliest beginning in 1993 when the first women’s desk was created as one of the division of the DPCR. In its 23 years of service, it has come a long way and has undergone a series of changes. It was reconfigured to different Directorates from the DPCR to the Health Service to the DIDM. Until in December 2014, or early part of 2015 last year, WCPC was restructured and strengthened through NAPOLCOM Resolution No. 2014-441 to become a specialized and dedicated Anti-Trafficking Unit within the PNP mandated to operate and investigate cases of Trafficking in Persons.
